Sen Seriake Dickson fulfils scholarship pledge to 228 beneficiaries
Sen Seriake Dickson, former Governor of Bayelsa and Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District of Bayelsa at the weekend, fulfilled an earlier pledge to fund a scholarship for indigent but brilliant students.

The beneficiaries include 53 undergraduates and 175 Foundation students of the institution.
The announcement of the development is coming on the heels of the release of the fund, as the University is set to resume its first academic session on April 14, 2024.
A statement from HSDF said in part: “We have paid the first tranche of 100 million naira for the tuition fees of 175 foundation students and 53 undergraduate for degree programmes who were successful at the recent examinations held at the University’s campus in Bayelsa State.
“Therefore, students will not pay tuition fees throughout their studies, as they will only pay for accommodation and other relevant fees”.
Meanwhile, a statement from the University’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Sony Neme, advised all students who have been offered admission to pick up their letters and return their forms, as they would be attended to on a first come, first serve basis.
“Those who have concluded their admission formalities would be eligible to these opportunities, as the University operates on first come, first service basis”, it said.
The statement further requested all intending students to proceed immediately to the Senate Building of the institution to formalise their admission processes.
It also reminded parents, guardians and students that the University is also in collaboration with other institutions which are ready to offer students with grants, scholarships and other facilities.
“The University is hereby notifying students that have gained admission and those seeking admission into the international institution to take advantage of the opportunity, as the university commences its admission on April 14, 2024.
“We are also announcing that all registered students who have been offered letters should picked up their letters, return their forms and begin their admission processes.
