Sokoto: Aliyu annuls all ex-Gov Tambuwal’s appointments, allocations, renaming of schools, others
Newly-inaugurated Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmad Aliyu, Tuesday revoked all hurriedly allocated all land and housing allocations approved by his predecessor, Aminu Tambuwal.
This is also as the new governor ordered the dissolution of all Boards, termination of civil service and traditional rulers’ appointments recently made by Tambuwal.
Aliyu, who disclosed this in a statement released through his Chief Press Secretary, Malam Abubakar Bawa, noted that appointments into the state civil service made by the government after March 19, 2023 were all affected.
In addition, Governor Aliyu annulled the renaming of tertiary institutions and related appointments into their Governing Councils, and relocations effected by ex-governor Tambuwal, and other past governments, stating that the affected institutions are to revert to their former names and locations.
“All recent appointments of traditional rulers, made by former Gov. Aminu Tambuwal are hereby suspended and will be reviewed in due course in the public interest.
“All local government sole administrators/ caretaker committees recently appointed by the immediate past administration are hereby dissolved,” Aliyu said.
He directed LGAs Sole Administrators to hand over to the Directors of Administration at the Councils with immediate effect, adding that all Governing Boards of parastatals other than statutory boards were also dissolved with immediate effect.
The governor further suspended ‘all wasteful and unnecessary auction of government assets,’ saying that they ‘would be revisited in due course.’
