SON enlightens Ebonyi stakeholders on growing business through standardization

The Standard Organization Of Nigeria SON has organized all important Stakeholders’ Forum/workshop for Manufacturers, Micro Small and Medium Enterprises and Exporters to teach them how to Grow Business through Standardization in Ebonyi State and Nigeria at Large.

The Director-  General ,  Standard Organization of Nigeria SON, Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke disclosed this during the workshop held at Theater Hall, International Conference Center ICC in Abakaliki, the State Capital.

The DG represented by the Director Cooperate Affairs Department, Mrs Talutu Ethan said SON organized the workshop to create awareness on how to  know standard products and why it should be encouraged and also how to identify substandard products and why it should be avoided.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria First Policy directs all MDAs to prioritize locally made goods and services and SON is here to ensure they meet global standards”

“It Boosts local industry & jobs ,builds national pride, drives economic growth”

“At SON, we set the standards that make Nigerian products trusted at home and competitive abroad.Support local. Demand quality.Choose Nigeria,” she added.

She encouraged Ebonyi to build more industries which will provide employment and boots economy as well.

The SON Regional Director, Mr Chukwuma Aharanwa said the workshop was apt as it will go a long way in  business standardization in the Country.

The Secretary to Ebonyi State Government,  Grace Umezuruike represented by her permanent Secretary, Onu nweze applauded SON for all the efforts to end substandard in Nigeria and Ebonyi State in particular.

The Commissioner of Police, Uche Anya, represented by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ikoli Osigimo promised to collaborate with SON to end substandard products in the Country.

The State Coordinator of National Agency For Food And Drug Administration And Control (NAFDAC), Mr Emeka Orajaka said food safety is everyone’s business and as such all should be on deck in collaboration with SON to fight standard products and their manufacturers.

The Head Electrical Laboratory in SON, Engr Lawal Ismaila urged the General public to ensure they use they use the standard cable in wiring their House as each cable measurement has their purpose.

He warned never to use  cable meant for lighting to power Air conditioner or Electric Cooker.

The representative of National Metrology  Institute, Peter Nnadue who represented the Head of the Institution, Samuel Ayuba informed that public should make sure that best measurements are given to them when they are purchasing any product .

The State Coordinator of SON in Ebonyi State, Engr MaryRose Ugwueche thanked all the participants for coming to boost their business through standardization.

The Highlight of the program was issuing the Certificate of participation to deserving participants.(VON)
