Soneye replaces Garba Deen as NNPCL spokesperson
Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has confirmed the appointment of Mr Olufemi Soneye as its new Chief Corporate Communications Officer.

Mr Soneye replaces Mr. Garba-Deen Muhammed as spokesperson of the energy firm.
It would be recalled that Mr Garba-Deen Muhammed had served in the position of NNPCL’s spokesperson following his reappointment in August 2021 having taken over Mr Kennie Obateru, who served in that capacity.
Garba-Deen had previously occupied the position during the tenure of Mr Ibe Kachikwu from 2015.
NNPC Ltd confirmed in a statement, Wednesday, in Abuja that Soneye would lead its Corporate Communications team and ‘drive its brand penetration, strategic communications initiatives, and stakeholder management.’
The company described Soneye, as a seasoned journalist with full-time and freelance experiences at some of the world’s most respected publications in Nigeria, Australia, and the United States.
“He is a member of reputable bodies, including the Nigerian Union of Journalists, National Association of Black Journalists, Society of Professional Journalists, and the Guild of Corporate Online Media Publishers.
“He is the former President of the Nigerian Media Practitioners, Washington, D.C.
“We look forward to his valuable contributions to our Company,” it said.
