‘Stay at home, lose your salary’, Anambra Govt warns workers
[From CHINEDU NWAFOR, Abakaliki]
Following the Monday sit-at-home order of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), the Anambra State Government has warned workers of dire consequences including loss of salary, should they miss work on Monday, 9, August, 2021.
The IPOB declared that the entire South East would be observing sit-at-home to protest the arrest and deportation of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
A statement issued by the media and publicity Secretary of IPOB, Emma Powerful stated that “Monday Sit-at-home order is sacrosanct”.
It stated that the entire Biafra land will be locked down every Monday from 6.00am to 6.00pm beginning from August 9, 2021 until its leader “Nnamdi Kanu who was abuducted in Kenya and brought back to Nigeria and locked up in DSS dungeon in clear violation of international laws is freed”.
The warning by the Anambra State Government was contained in a circular issued by the Head of Service, Mr Larry Uduh, a copy of which was obtained by our Correspondent on Sunday.
“All workers in the State must attend to their duties on Monday 9th August 2021 as failure to do so will result in severe sanctions including loss of Salary for the month of August”, an extract from the circular read.
The circular further urged all Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries to monitor and report compliance.
