Teenage sensations win top prizes at Calabar Table Tennis Challenge

Hope Udoka from Calabar Table Tennis Club and Samuel Boboye from Bayelsa State have won the Calabar Table Tennis Challenge.
Hope Udoka beat Ufoneme Bassey in the girls’ singles final, while Samuel Boboye defeated his opponent from Cross River State in the boys final.
Hope Udoka defeated her rival Ufoneme Bassey by three set to emerged Champions in the women singles final.
Samuel Boboye emerged Champion by defeating his Cross River counterpart Akabom Ekpo by three set.
In the Cadet Boys Final, Enare Obasi emerged Champion by defeating his brother Ekpo Obasi to silver.
Emmanuel Sampson triumphed in the Under 10 Boys Final, defeating his rival Emmanuel Usen.
James Kalu emerged Champion of the Veterans single final at the end of the competition.
The Vice Chairman of the Calabar Table Tennis Challenge, Usen Umoh, spoke at the event’s opening ceremony. He stated that the competition is becoming increasingly competitive and exciting.
Usen, who also serves as Vice Chairman of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria’s Cross River and Akwa Ibom Branch (MAN), commended the private sector’s involvement in sports.
Lawrence Eta, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Bassey Otu on Sports, has assured the organizers of the Calabar Table Tennis Challenge that Governor Otu will participate in the competition next year.
About 500 athletes from states across the South-South region participated in this year’s Calabar Table Tennis Challenge.
