Three killed as gunmen attack Ihiala council headquarters

Gunmen early hours of Thursday attacked the Ihiala local council Headquarters in Anambra State, set ablaze the council and killed three persons.
The gunmen, it was gathered, stormed the area at about 1.30 a.m.
This is coming barely two weeks after the gunmen attacked the the Ihiala Police Division office.
The hoodlums had exchange of gun fire with the local vigilante group and succeeded in over- powering the vigilante before gaining entry into the local government premises.
The gunmen were said to have proceeded to the Administrative block of the council area and burnt down the building.
It was further learnt that the gunmen also burnt down the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, the Civil Defense building, the National Youth Service Corps office and the Health department of the council.
During the gunfire that last for about three hours, two members of the Ihiala local vigilante group were shot dead while the gunmen lost one of their gang members.
The gunmen also attacked and burnt down the home of the Deputy Speaker Anambra state House of Assembly as well as the the two buildings belonging to the President General of Osumoghu Community in Nnewi South local government area.
Efforts to reach the Anambra police Command as of the time of filing this report failed.END//
