Three petrol stations, 15 vehicles destroyed, as tanker explodes in Anambra

It was a tragic Sunday night in Anambra State as a tanker laden with premium motor spirit (PMS) exploded at the Chris-Tee fuel station near Boromeo roundabout, along the Enugu-Onitsha Expresssway.
Other eyewitnesses also claimed that a gas plant at the same petrol station exploded, engulfing the entire station.
What led to the fire incident could be ascertained but men of the State Fire Service and Rescue team from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were seen on ground.
According to eyewitness account, up tpo 15 cars and other vehicles parked at the premises of the petrol station were burnt.
Sector Commander, FRSC, Anambra State, Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi has called for calm.
The fire fighters were seen battling the inferno to prevent its escalation.
The area has since been cordoned off and traffic diverted.
It was gathered that the fire started at Chris-Tee Gas plant and spread to other two nearby petrol stations.
As of the time of filing this report, the affected petrol stations were still in flames, but the fire fighters are working hard to quench the fire.
Records of casualties as well as damages caused by the fire could not be ascertained immediately.
