All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate, Asíwájú Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday told a mammoth rally in Owerri, Imo State capital, that he would work assiduously to advance the legacies of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The rally was attended by the president, the party’s National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, at least three state governors Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi) and Babajide Sanwo-olu (Lagos) as well as Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege.
Tinubu said the good work of the president particularly in the area of infrastructural revolution, revamping agriculture, road and railway network would be sustained.
“You know the president with honesty, integrity and dependability. We will continue with his incorruptible and being straightforward attributes, ” he said.
The APC candidate also promised to prudently manage the nation’s resources and increase the revenue – generation capacity as he did when he was Lagos governor.
To the people of Imo, Asíwájú Tinubu said he would further invest in education as President Buhari who upgraded two institutions in the state to universities did, and help to make the state a tourist destination.
“We will strengthen and promote peace and unity in the state and confront violence and man inhumanity to fellow man as that’s the only way growth and development can be achieved,” he said.
Addressing the rally, President Buhari said for the umpteenth time that Asiwaju would be the next president of the country God willing.
He said he had accompanied Tinubu to the state to sell him to the people, expressing gratitude for the massive turnout at the rally.
The president had earlier paid a courtesy call on traditional rulers in the state at their council chamber where he had also canvassed support for Asíwájú’s election.
The Chairman of the Traditional Council in the state who received Buhari, Eze Udo, HRH Dr Eze Okeke, conferred on the president the Chieftaincy title of Nwanne Dinamba, meaning a brother in The Diaspora.
The host-governor, Senator Uzodimma, while welcoming the dignitaries to the state, restated that Imo is part of the Nigerian entity and “in brotherhood the people of the state shall stand with other Nigerians.”
He thanked Buhari for his support for the state, adding that his presence at the rally was a great testament to his determination to get the party to win the next election and to grow further.
Those who attended the rally held at the Dan Anyiam Stadium Owerri also included APC Deputy Chairman (South), Barrister Emma Enekwu, former Edo State governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Idris Wase and APC National Woman Leader Betta Edu.
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday urged the people of Imo State to vote for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Saturday 25th February presidential poll.
He said the Ndigbo in Lagos State are with the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for his victory in the presidential election.
The Governor urged all Ndigbo, particularly the people of Imo State and Nigerians at large to bring about renewed hope by coming out en masse to vote for Tinubu in next week’s presidential election, as well as all the APC candidates contesting in the forthcoming general elections.
Governor Sanwo-Olu spoke at the APC presidential campaign rally in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, which was attended by President Muhammadu Buhari; APC National Chairman, Senator Adamu Abdullahi; Deputy Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Comrade Adams Oshimhole and Governors Hope Uzodinma (Imo), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi) and other APC chieftains.
He said: “I bring you greetings from the Centre of Excellence to the state of great hope to show that there is a handshake across the Niger, where all your people are. They want me to come here to tell you that even the Ndigbo in Lagos are with Asiwaju. So, we have come here to show you that we are the same. That is why I have come down here to show solidarity with the great hope in Imo State and the hope that is renewed for Nigeria under the able leadership of our presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“We want to thank you Mr. President, for keeping to your word that you will join us on the campaign train in all of the regional states in the country. We want to thank you sir for coming down here to show everyone that indeed you are a President for all.
“We want to thank you for the great Igbo community and I bring you greetings from all of us in Lagos that we stand with you across the Niger. We stand with you believing that the renewed hope is here and the great hope of Imo is also here.
“Let us go out next week Saturday and do the right thing; do the rightful thing and bring about a renewed hope under the hope of Imo into the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. God bless you all.”
