‘Tinubu, Kwankwaso yet to respond to our invitation’ – NBA, confirms Atiku, Obi to speak at 2022 AGC
Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has disclosed that the Presidential candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has yet to respond to an invitation sent to the politician to attend the forthcoming the 62nd Annual General Conference (AGC) of the association slated for the Eko Atlantic City in Lagos.
This is also the lawyers’ body said that the Presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has not responded to a similar invitation sent to him to attend the event.
However, the NBA in a statement, confirmed the attendance of the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Dr Peter Obi, as that of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar at the event billed to hold from 19th – 26th August 2022.
NBA had invitesd all four presidential candidates to attend the AGC to speak publicly during its conference in Lagos.
According to NBA, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, who have both confirmed their availability, will participate in a board discussion on the topic of ” Popularity based Transitions in 21st Century Nigeria: 2023 and Beyond.”
Tinubu and Kwankwaso, according to a public statement by the NBA’s Technical Committee on Conference Planning (TCCP), could at the moment confirm their availability.
After the gathering’ s opening ceremony, the TCCP announced that the Presidential Contenders’ Session would provide attendees with a unique opportunity to speak with the official candidates just six months before Nigeria’ s national elections the following year.
