
Tinubu receives West African leaders in Abuja

President Bola Tinubu has received Presidents Patrice Talon of Benin Republic, Mohammed Bazoum of Niger Republic and Umaro Emballo of Guinea Bissau at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
The President received them at the forecourt of the presidential villa in Aso rock.
While the specific agenda of the meeting has not been disclosed, it comes in the wake of President Tinubu assuming the role of Chair of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the regional bloc encompassing these nations.
The meeting centres around the outcome of the 63rd Summit of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) which was held in Guinea-Bissau
The Summit established an ECOWAS Presidential Task force (TROIKA+1) comprising of Benin, Guinea-Bissau and Nigeria, with the support of Niger on Post-MINUSMA Security Challenges considering it’s withdrawal by the United Nations.
President Tinubu will later host them for lunch at the State House, after which they are expected to brief the media on their mission.
