Tribunal dismisses LP petition against APGA Reps candidate in Anambra
National Assembly Houses Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Awka, Anambra State has dismissed all the petitions against the declaration of Dominic Ifeanyichukwu Okafor of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the February 25, 2023 election.
INEC had declared Okafor as winner of the Aguata Federal Constituency election at the Federal House of Representatives.
However, candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Chief Andy Azike in his petition marked; No.EPT/AN/HR/19/2023, had challenged Okafor’s victory at the National Assembly Houses Elections Petition Tribunal on grounds of electoral discrepancies.
The three-member tribunal delivering its judgement, Friday, dismissed all the prayers by Azike, for lacking merit and substantial evidence.
Reacting to the tribunal verdict, Saturday, Okafor appreciated his constituents ‘who have elected him at the polls, while pledging his commitment to serve their interests.’
