U.S, Nigeria to collaborate on direct flights to Houston
Federal Government has disclosed of plans to deepen improved civil aviation connection with the United States with the opening of the city of Houston in Texas to direct flights from the country.

Already, states of New York and Atlanta states are accessible to direct flights from Nigeria operated by the U.S-based carrier, Delta Air Lines. The routes were also partially service by Nigeria’s Arik Air before it went under administration.
According to a statement by the head of press and public affairs of the Ministry of Aviation, Odutayo Oluseyi, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Aviation Dr. Meribole while receiving the Mayor of Houston Sylvester Turner, emphasized that the administration’s is keen to exploring investment and tourism opportunities as well as building on the existing bilateral relationship between the two countries.
Meribole assured the U.S Mayor-led delegation that all modalities required for the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) between Nigeria and United States will commence as soon as a minister is appointed by President Bola Tinubu.
Responding, Mayor Turner said ‘Houston is a gate way for trade to central and the western United States with strong infrastructure and strategic geographic location that will expand their relationship with Nigeria through Healthcare, technology, Agriculture, energy and education.’
Aso remarking, Ambassador Akinyemi Bolaji of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, assured the Mayor, that the proposal of establishing a consulate office in Houston will be considered.
