UACN Plc announces appointment of Ayomipo Wey as Company Secretary
The Board of Directors of UAC of Nigeria PLC has notified the Nigerian Exchange Limited, its shareholders and other stakeholders of the appointment of Ms. Ayomipo Wey as Group General Counsel/Company Secretary, effective February 8, 2022.
According to the notification, as the Group General Counsel/Company Secretary of UACN, Ayomipo will guide and advise the Company and the Board in ensuring full compliance with Legal, Governance, Secretarial and regulatory requirements whilst coordinating the Legal, Governance and Secretarial activities of all the Group companies.
Ayomipo is currently the General Counsel/Company Secretary of Chemical and Allied Products Plc (‘CAP Plc’), a position she has held since September 2019.
In that capacity, she has, and continues to advise CAP Plc in (i) minimizing (or where possible, eliminating) legal risks, (ii) complying with best governance standards and practices, (iii) ensuring full legal and regulatory compliance with all relevant laws, amongst others.
In addition to her role in CAP Plc, Ayomipo concurrently served as the Company Secretary/Legal Adviser of Portland Paints and Products Nigeria Plc until June 2020.
Ayomipo who holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the Lagos State University Ojo, Lagos, was called to the Nigerian bar in 2008 and obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) (with distinction) from Queen Mary, University of London in 2011. She has extensive legal, company secretarial, compliance and corporate governance experience spanning over fourteen (14) years.
Ayomipo was the Assistant Group General Counsel of United Capital Plc from June 2015 to August 2019 and had her formative legal years in the prestigious firm of Banwo & Ighodalo where she spent over seven years gathering extensive and invaluable knowledge and experience in the legal aspects of corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, corporate governance and company secretarial practice.
Ayomipo is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (UK) and the Nigerian Bar Association.
She takes over from Ms. Nkemdirim Agboti who resigned as UACN’s Company Secretary/General Counsel effective February 1, 2022.
