
UBA shares emerge most traded, as Conoil rally gainers at NGX

Conoil Plc led the gainers chart at Thursday’s trading activities on the floor of the NGX, despite the bourse seeing a worrying drop in its market capitalisation which dropped by N4 billion to close at N20.216 trillion as against N20.282 trillion on Wednesday.

The decline also followed three days of positive trading at the NGX.
The NGX All Share Index also declined by 0.32% to close at 38,801.51 points, representing 126.32 points lower than the 38,927.83 recorded, Wednesday.
Conoil led the gainers table having gained N1.85k or 10% to close at N20.35k per share. It was followed by ChiPlc with N0.05k or 8.93% gain to close at N0.61k and Sovrenins continued its positive rally recorded at Wednesday trading by gaining N0.02k or 7.69% to close at N0.28k.

However, Ardova shares lost N1.00k or 6.25% to close at 15.00k to top the losers’ chart. It was mixed fortunes for VeritasKAP shares which had at the close of Wednesday trading recorded a N0.02k or 8.70% gain to close at N0.25k, as the firm was in the losers’ chart losing 0.01k or 4% to close at 0.24k; major insurance player AIICO also lost N0.02k or 2.06% to close at N0.95k.
UBA shares was the most traded by investors for the day as it had the biggest volumes of of 16,433 million shares worth N123 billion followed by GTCO with 13,004 million shares.
Most of the indices performance was slightly positive as three out of the five sub-sectors tracked closed in green.
The Insurance index gained 0.25%, the Consumer good index rose by 0.26% and the Industrial index grew by 0.04%.
While the banking index fell at 0.30% and the oil and gas index also fell by 0.04%.
Overall, Thursday’s trading saw a total of 139,782,724 shares with market value of N1, 409 billion traded in 3,655 deals.
