Ubadire is new MOUAU’s PRO

A Corporate Communication expert, Dr. Ubadire Agua, (mipm, anipr), has been appointed the Head of the Public Relations Unit of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU).
Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, a Chartered Food Scientist, (Cfs), approved Ubadire’s appointment as the new Head of the Public Relations Unit of the University on Friday, September 20, 2024, according to the Letter of Appointment endorsed by the University’s Registrar, Dr Charity Nkeiruka Mbanaso.

In the letter, the Vice-Chancellor described Dr. Agua as an astute public relations practitioner and charged him to bring his wealth of experience to bear on his new role in the University.

Dr. Agua started his career in the Public Relations (PR) Unit of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, in December 2005 as Higher Executive Officer (Public Relations).

The new MOUAU PRO rose through the ranks to become an Assistant Chief Public Relations Officer in 2021.

Until his appointment as Head of the Public Relations Unit, he served in the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) between 2020 and 2024.

Dr. Agua attended Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State and the prestigious Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna State, where he obtained a National and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mass Communication, respectively. He also attended the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State for a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication and a Master of Art (MA) Degree in Business and Organizational Communication.

He capped his academic studies at the University of Port-Harcourt where he bagged a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Ph.D) in Communication Studies with specialization in Corporate Communication.

The new PR helmsman in MOUAU is a member of many professional and academic associations within and outside Nigeria. He was inducted into the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in 2006, African Council for Communication Education (ACCE – Nigeria) in 2009, and Institute of Place Management at Manchester Metropolitan University, UK, in 2013. He is also a member of the International Communication Association (ICA) since 2023.

Dr. Agua has a significant interest in reputation management of public sector organizations and has published a number of papers in that area. He has been a Panellist and Speaker in several communication conferences, workshops and trainings within and outside Nigeria.

Dr. Ubadire Agua takes over from Mr. Patrick Oparah who manned the PR Unit from March 1, 2023.
