Ugwuanyi swears-in chairmen, commissioners for state, LG civil service commission

Enugu Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has sworn-in two chairmen and commissioners to serve in the Enugu State and Local Government Civil Service Commissions.

Among them is Mrs. Stella Akpa Ekweremadu, wife of the late Commissioner for Transport, Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Mathias Ekweremadu Jnr who was sworn-in by the Governor as Commissioner in the State Civil Service Commission.
The late Commissioner, Akpa Ekweremadu was a younger brother to Senator Ike Ekweremadu, who slumped at the State House of Assembly on February 4th, 2021 while attending a meeting and was rushed to Niger Foundation Hospital where he was confirmed dead.
Mr Robinson Ogbonna Odo, a retired Permanent Secretary from the State civil service was also sworn-in by the Governor as the Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission.
Other Commissioners that were sworn-in to serve in the State Civil Service Commission by Gov Ugwuanyi include: Dr. Mrs. Eucharia Offor (Member 1), Mr. Nathaniel Chidiebere Anike (Member 2) and Mrs. Joy Chinenye Odike (Member 3).
On the State Local Government Service Commission, Gov. Ugwuanyi swore-in Prof. Osy Okanya, as Chairman.
Other members of the LG Service Commission sworn-in by Gov. Ugwuanyi include: Hon. Rodrick Ugwu, Nnaji Peter Nnaji, Mrs. Florence Ifeyinwa Igboji and Hon. Eugene Odo.
Performing the ceremony at Lion Building, Government House Enugu, on Friday Gov. Ugwuanyi charged them to be honest, transparent, accountable, fair, just and committed in the exercise of their functions.
“You are expected to midwife a skilled, competent and disciplined workforce that will ensure the attainment of service delivery goals of our administration through merit, skill and character driven recruitment,” he told the appointees.
Gov. Ugwuanyi who lamented that the State LG system was witnessing high level of staff absenteeism and attrition, stressed that the immediate task facing the new chairman and Commissioners was to recreate a disciplined, robust, dedicated, well-equipped and well-motivated Local Government workforce for enhanced productivity and optimal service delivery.
In their acceptance speeches, the Chairmen of the State Civil Service Commission and his LG counterpart, Dr. Odo and Prof. Okanya, respectively, thanked Ugwuanyi for finding them worthy to serve the State and assured they would work diligently to fully actualize the mandate of their respective commissions.
