Ukraine varsity to train Abia youths, health workers, as UCCIMA, school sign MoU

Umuahia Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (UCCIMA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Karazhan Business School of the V.N. Karazin National University, Kharkiv, Ukraine.
The MoU would see the school assist in upgrading Abians, including Abia students and young professionals in the areas of skills development and building of such centers in the state; as well as training and retraining, particularly health workers in modern health care management.
The School would also partner with tertiary institutions in Abia State in the areas of Entrepreneurial Development, Health Care Management, Information Technology, Urban Development and Agriculture.
Karazin Business School is a modern, high-quality, innovative education centre which offers one an opportunity to receive Diploma from one of the oldest universities in Eastern Europe.
At Karazin Business School, training combines practically-focused business education and benefits of a classical university.
During the MoU signing ceremony, the Chief Servant of UCCIMA and Vice President of Nigeria-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce, Chief Chidi Aruoma, initialled for UCCIMA, while the Deputy President, Karazin Business School, Anton Kvitka, signed on behalf of the university.
The ceremony was witnessed by the Rector of the School, Tetyana Kaganovska, and management team of the School.
Explaining the essence of the partnership during a chat, Aruoma said it would help to create a working relationship between the School and tertiary Institutions in Abia State and promote growth and development of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) in the State.
“The School will train willing Abians in the areas entrepreneurial development, because this is one of the major areas where Governor Ikpeazu’s attention lies and we are looking at working with him to develop this area.
“We can have educational exchange programmes with the School. Abia State University, Uturu, Abia State College of Health, Abia State College of Education (Technical), Abia State Polytechnic, Aba and other higher Institutions in the state can have exchange programmes with the School.
“It offers opportunities where you can do two years in our schools in Abia State and move over to Ukraine to complete the remaining two years and also get double honours in your certificate.
“Also, we are not only looking at sending our students to go over there to acquire knowledge, we are also looking at partnering with the University to bring their lecturers to come over here and lecture our students.
“This move will positively affect our health Institutions in terms of knowledge transfer and refresher courses. We are actually looking at marketing Abia State,” the UCCIMA helmsman said.
Aruoma further disclosed that the Deputy President of the Karazin Business School, Anton Kvitka, has expressed the readiness of the institution to offer technical support, where necessary, to boost entrepreneural development; describing it as the first approach ever to bring about soft skill development in West Africa.
Chief Aruoma seized the opportunity to renew his call on the Organised Private Sector to work harmoniously to move industries in the state forward.
