Umahi sacks Ikwo College Provost, others over alleged employment scam

Barely three weeks after announcing the indefinite suspension of the Provost of Ikwo College of Education, Professor Benedict Mbam and other management staff of the College, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has now terminated their appointments.
Apart from Mbam, the Bursar and the Registrar and other members of the management of the college have been disengaged, effective from February 9, 2022.
They were ordered to handover immediately to the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Education.
They were accused of embarking on employment exercise without following due process.
The state government had set up a committee to investigate the alleged irregularities in the college.
On Wednesday, the committee presented its report to government, during the State Executive Council meeting held at EXCO Chambers, Ochoudo Centenary City, Abakaliki, ,and the council resolved that the management of the college be sacked effective from February, 9, 2022.
