Umahi suspends commissioner for insubordination, dereliction of duty

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has suspended indefinitely the Commissioner for Housing and Urban development, Chief Clement Nweke.
Nweke’s suspension is coming less than one week the Governor suspended indefinitely the Coordinator of Ohaozara Development Centre, Mr Obinna Ekezie, for dishonesty and travelling without official permission.
A statement by the Secretary to State Government and Coordinating Commissioner, Dr Kenneth Ugbala on Wednesday said he was suspended for insubordination and dereliction of duty.
He was directed to handover government property in his possession to the Permanent Secretary or the most Senior Officer in the Ministry before the close work on Wednesday, August 11, 2021.
“His Excellency, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dr. David Nweze Umahi, FNSE, FNATE, has approved the indefinite suspension of Hon. Clement A. Nweke as Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development with immediate effect.
“The indefinite suspension is as a result of insubordination and dereliction of duty.
“Consequently, Hon Nweke is directed to handover all governmental property in his possession to the Permanent Secretary or the most Senior officer in the Ministry before the close of work on Wednesday 11th August, 2021.Please ensure strict compliance to this directive,” the Statement reads.
