The University of Calabar (UNICAL) is set to host the rescheduled Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL) annual lecture.
The annual lecture series of the NAL was billed for February 2020 but did not hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, the lecture has been rescheduled to hold on March 4 and will be hosted virtually by the university with the incumbent vice chancellor as chief host.
Other dignitaries expected at the lecture series are Professor Emeritus, Femi Osofisan, Prof Francis Egbokhare.
The President of NAL, Professor Francis Egbokhare will chair the lecture and supported by NAL Secretary Professor Ayobami Kehinde.
This year’s lecture, themed “History and the Mythopoeic Vocation: The Nation as Capricious Grand Guignol?” will be delivered by Osofisan.
In a statement, Ayobami stated that the Meeting ID is 895 431 0035 just as it commended the University of Calabar for sponsoring and ‘hosting’ the lecture.
The Chairman of local organising committee and the Director, Teaching and Learning Excellence, University of Calabar, Prof Monday T. Joshua, said it is an honour done the university to host the lecture series.
He said the Vice Chancellor, Prof Florence Obi, will deliver a welcome address, and urged all the participants to log in on time as the committee has made all necessary arrangements to make it a success
The Nigerian Academy of Letters, was inaugurated at a meeting held at the University of Ibadan on November 14, 1991.
NAL is the apex organisation of the Nigerian academics and scholars in humanities and aimed at promoting academic excellence in all branches of humanities.
