Thousands of students of the University of Cross River have begun protest against the rising insecurity in the campus.
The action follows a robbery incident on the female hostel of the institution where several properties of the students were carted away.
The robbery incident is the third since the school resumed following the suspension of the Academic Staff Union of Universities ( ASUU) strike.
Early Tuesday morning, the students congregated in the main gate of the university and prevented teaching, non-teaching staff and visitors from gaining access into the institution.
The institutions Vice Chancellor, Professor Austin Amgba as well as the PRO Onen Onen have declined to answer their calls as at press time.
