USA Men’s basketball team wins 4th consecutive gold, 16th title at Tokyo Olympics
Team USA Men, Saturday, won the gold medal for the 4th consecutive time by beating France 87-82 in the basketball final at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
The Nigerian team D’Tigers had convincingly beaten the same USA Men’s team during a pre-tournament game in the U.S few days to the Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
However, D’Tigers crashed out of the tournament without a single win.
In the basketball final game played at the Saitama Arena, the USA, consisting of NBA stars, faced France, which they lost in the group match.
With Kevin Durant’s 12 points in the first quarter, USA, which had the advantage of 22-18, also went ahead 44-39 in the locker room.
Effective with Tatum in the third quarter, the USA entered the final period with a 71-63 lead. Maintaining its superiority in the last quarter, the USA won the match 87-82 and became the Olympic champion for the 4th time in a row.
The name that brought the championship to the USA was Kevin Durant, who scored 29 points. In France, NBA stars Fournier and Gobert each scored 16 points, while Nando De Colo playing for Fenerbahçe Beko scored 12 points.
After Beijing in 2008, London in 2012 and Rio in 2016, the USA also took the gold medal in Tokyo in 2020. The USA became the champion for the 16th time in total in men’s basketball, which took part in the Olympics for the 20th time.
France, on the other hand, lost to the USA in the Olympic final, where it took place for the second time in its history, and remained on the silver medal.
