Nigeria’s youth female national team, the Falconets, Sunday night, completed three wins in three matches in the Group B round of games at the ongoing West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B Women’s Cup hosted by Ghana after beating Burkina Faso 3-0.

The match played inside the Baba Yara Stadium, in Kumasi, Sunday evening, May 28, 7pm Nigerian time, ended with the Falconets securing the maximum 9 points to top the Group B in the tournament.

The team had earlier thrashed Niger Republic, last Sunday night, by 7-0, Togo – 6-0, last Wednesday, and in the last group match, beat Burkina Faso by 3-0 through goals with tournament’s leading goal poacher, Esther Opeyemi Ajakaye scoring a brace in the 11th and 60th minute, as teammate, Flourish Sabastine got a lone strike in the 67th minute to complete the rout.

The Falconets have now recorded 14 goals with none conceded so far in the tournament, with Ajakaye leading in the scorers’ chart with six goals in three matches recorded in matches against Niger Republic (hattrick), Togo (1 goal) and two (Burkina Faso), while Flourish Sabastine is on three goals.

The coach Chris Danjuma-tutored side Falconets now face Group A runners-up, Benin Republic in the knockout rounds, Tuesday, May 30.
