Why APC presidential rally in Enugu is a fiasco
The campaign rally of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Enugu, on Wednesday, ended in a fiasco as key party stakeholders including former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama, former Governor of Enugu State, Sullivan Chime, immediate past chairman of APC in the state, Dr Ben Nwoye shunned the event.
Others absent at the rally includes former Speaker, Enugu State House of Assembly, Eugene Odoh, former Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, Director-General of Voice of Nigeria, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, and a presidential aide, Barr. Mrs Juliet Ibekaku.
Governors Hope Uzodinma of Imo State and Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State were present at the rally, whose failure was attributed to the crisis rocking APC chapter in Enugu state.
The party leaders who addressed journalists said their absence at the rally was to send a clear signal to the national leadership of the APC that something urgently must be done over the crisis in the Enugu State chapter of the party.
They blamed Governor Uzodinma for allegedly hijacking the APC structure in Enugu State, thereby disorganising the party.
The various speakers, including Chime, Nnamani and Odoh said they were not privy to all the preparations and programme for the rally.
They, however, described Tinubu as a good candidate, assuring them that they would work for his victory in the presidential election.
According to Chime, “we received our guber candidate at the Airport. We believe in him, he is the best.
