
WIEN Woman Podcast: Engr. Chichi Emenike shares secret routes to the top

One of the few indigenous women leading upstream petroleum companies in the country, Engr Chichi Emenike, is the guest to Mrs Rolake Akinkugbe-Filani and Engr Charlotte Essiet in the fourth episode of the WIEN Woman Podcast.
Engr Emenike who is the Acting Managing Director and Gas Asset manager at Neconde Energy Limited, is in town to inspire other women and upcoming professionals in the economy with the story of her remarkable 25-year career journey in the oil and gas industry.

The WIEN Woman Podcast is one of the open mentorship initiatives of the Women in Energy Network (WIEN) designed to project models that inspire upcoming professionals in the industry with encouraging stories and winning tips on how to move up the rungs of corporate ladder.
In Episode IV of the WIEN Woman Podcast, Engr Emenike is robustly engaged by two eminent economic and industry analysts: Mrs. Rolake Akinkugbe-Filani and Engr Charlotte Essiet.
Mrs Ainkugbe-Filani is the General Manager & Group Head of Corporate Development and Investor Relations at Zenith Bank Plc and WIEN’s Director of Research & Strategy.
Engr Charlotte Essiet is the Chief Executive Officer of Elint Systems Limited and WIEN’s immediate past Media and Publicity Director.
They drill down Engr Emenike on her career journey across companies and up the corporate ladder.
Listeners are expected to draw lessons from her inspiring career moves and how she navigated visible challenges, especially gender biases in an industry where gender imbalance and inequity have necessitated active advocacy campaigns.
WIEN is Nigeria’s frontline gender equity advocate in the Nigerian petroleum industry and wider society. The group is also driving capacity development for female professionals in the energy industry; education of girl children in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM); mentorship programmes to make members savvier; and partnerships that provide global industry opportunities.
President of the group, Mrs Eyono Fatai-Williams, explains that the WIEN Woman Podcast is conceived not just to benefit public audience with the group’s experience sharing insights, but also showcase the quality of female talents the Nigerian economy and society must optimize for the development of the country.

She maintains that whereas the gender equity advocacy of WIEN does not promote competition across the Nigerian gender divide, it vehemently points at the need to enable the country optimize all gender capacity in advancing socio-economic development.
Executive Secretary, Engr Asanimo Omezi, adds that the overall objective of the group’s gender equity advocacy is to dismantle stereotypes and expose the abundant values women bring to corporate management, board, and policy decisions.
She said the WIEN Woman Podcast showcases the caliber of intellect driven performance of female professionals that have surpassed expectations to earn the trust and confidence of deep pocket investors in delivering on corporate goals and objectives.
She described the participation of the WIEN corporate stallions as personal social responsibility in line with the group’s no-profit programmes in ensuring that the economy becomes a level playing ground for all people of the gender divide to seek and take opportunities that are not limited by their gender.
Besides her position in Neconde Energy Limited, Engr. Chichi Emenike is a founding member and Vice President in charge of Upstream at WIEN. She is also the Chairperson of the NGA DEI Study Group. She has taken a number of strategic roles at many petroleum companies including ExxonMobil and Neconde.
