‘You came through the back door,’ Okorocha tells Imo governor, Uzodinma
Diatribe between former Governor of Imo State and Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District, Rochas Okorocha and his successor, Hope Uzodinma does not look like ending anytime soon, as the former has taken a swipe at the incumbent, calling him an imposter.
Okorocha and Uzodinma have been at war over control of the political structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State, as the incumbent governor has also seized every opportunity he gets at stripping assets of his predecessor.
The former governor while fielding questions by BBC Igbo, Tuesday, expressed regret at ‘how someone who knew he didn’t win but for some forces became governor would come to claim to be number one citizen of the state.’
Apparently not satisfied with developments in the state he was in charge for eight years, Okorocha further took a swipe at Uzodinma, as he indirectly questioned the process that saw to the present leadership of Government House, Owerri.
However, commenting on the concluded Anambra Governorship election, Senator Okorocha who is believed to be eyeing the presidency come 2023 enthused that the recently-concluded governorship elections in the state was successful, free and fair, adding; ‘unlike in Imo State where some people wrote results and submitted to the court and were declared governor.’
“You know, you can be called a governor but deep down in your heart you know you are not the governor, you came through the back door, it hinders growth and development,” Okorocha added.
According to Okorocha, the reason APC lost in Anambra was because ‘the wrong candidate emerged through what he alleged was a fraudulent primary election organized by those he accused of being known for rigging and writing results.’
Uzodinma was head of the APC campaign group for the Anambra governorship election and Okorocha statement is also believed to have been aimed t the Imo governor.
