Youth council warns against violence ahead of C’River local government elections

Ahead of the November 2, 2024 council polls in Cross River State, Comrade Emmanuel Olayi, the Chairman of the Cross River State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria has urged youths to abandon plans to disrupt the elections.

The warning follows rumours of plans by some misguided youths to disrupt the success of the polls.

He said the council is firm in its determination to ensure the success of the November 2, 2024 council elections.

Comrade Olayi tasked youths in the state to take advantage of the process and help build a future that will benefit everyone.

“The NYCN, however, sounds a strong warning to anyone who might intend to disrupt the peace and order during the election period.

“We urge such individuals to abandon any plans that might jeopardize the democratic process.

“The NYCN stands firm in its commitment to see that the LGA election is peaceful, transparent,and credible.

“To all the youths in Cross River State, we call on you to participate actively and responsibly in the upcoming elections.

“Your involvement is crucial to ensure that our voices are heard and that our aspirations are reflected in the outcomes.

“Let us all play our part in building a future that benefits everyone, fostering an environment of inclusivity and mutual respect”, the youth leader appealed.

The council also welcomed the effort of the federal government in granting autonomy to councils across the country.

It described the effort as a historic step toward empowering local communities, ensuring that resources reach the grassroots.
