2023: Support Emenike for APC victory in Abia – Bende stakeholders
From BONIFACE OKORO, Umuahia
Leaders of All Progressives Congress (APC) from Bende Local Government Area of Abia State have advised all stakeholders and party faithful to vote for the party’s governorship candidate for the 2023 governorship contest in the state, High Chief Ikechi Emenike, if the party must win in next gubernatorial elections.
The advice is contained in a 13-point communiqué issued at the end Bende APC stakeholders meeting held at the country home of the party’s State Chairman, Dr Kingsley Ononogbu, in Nkpa on Tuesday, August 9, 2022.
According to the stakeholders, the meeting was held against the backdrop of the imperative to make peace and in the light of the Ntalakwu Declaration as well as the need to put the party on the path of victory, with the Bende stakeholders stressing the need for a united family for the prosecution of the elections next year.
The meeting was attended by select stakeholders who resolved that “APC is one big family with family problems that must be resolved by the members of the family,” and lent their support to the eight-man Reconciliation Committee set up by the National Secretariat of the party to resolve issues in Abia chapter.
“The need to reconcile all aggrieved members was uppermost in the considered opinion of Bende stakeholders,” the Communique stated.
With regard to Bende APC, the meeting noted that “there are no factions of APC in Bende except the unbearing, clannish and self-centred attitude of some individuals with over-bloated ego of self-worth.”
However, the select stakeholder “unanimously called for reconciliation and harmonisation of party office across Bende,” and further put a timeline to harmonisation to be after the conclusion of the assignment of the eight-man national reconciliation Committee to Abia state.
According to the Communiqué, the Bende stakeholders lamented the absence of integrated and compact rural development and urban renewal initiative for Bende in this present dispensation in Abia state and further “wept about the continued capital flight from the state into new generation banks and outside the state leading to executive corruption and continued decay and under development of Bende.”
The stakeholders expressed happiness with Hon. Benjamin Kalu, “the Oracle” and spokesman of the House of Representatives, and Hon. Chijioke chukwu, the Abia state House of Assembly Minority Leader for clearly siding with the people to strengthen the party.
The Communique further disclosed that the select stakeholders also agreed to have a bigger stakeholders meeting of about 1000 people to be hosted soon as part of the continued consultation with the people for a healthier electoral fortunes of the party.
