NGX: Investors record N164.97bn gain as ASI appreciates further by 0.55%
Equities Market closed positive as the key market indicator advanced by 330.85 bps amid positive market breadth.
The NGX All-Share Index advanced by 0.55% to close at 54,949.21 basis points as against a 0.61% gain recorded previously to close at 54,646.38 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N164.97bn gain.
At the end of the last weekday of trading, a total of 119,095,242 shares in 2,820 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 2,501,806,315.26, were traded. Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Thursday, February 23), today’s data shows 16% decline in volume, 35% improvement in turnover, and 6% improvement in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 29.9 trillion.
In the aggregate, 118 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 31 gainers and 12 losers. McNichols led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 0.66 per share, followed by The Initiates (+10%), John Holt (+10%) and Conoil (+9.94%).
On the losing side, LivingTrust Mortgage Bank came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 10% at NGN 2.70 per share, followed by Cornerstone Insurance Company (-7.69%), Courteville Business Solutions (-4.17%) and Regency Alliance Insurance (-3.45%). Guaranty Trust Holding recorded the highest volume of 14.1 million traded shares, followed by Transcorp Nigeria (11m), Access Holdings (10.9m) and Fidelity Bank (9.44m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) moved up 302.83 (0.55%) points to close at 54,949.21, representing a 1-week gain of 2.13%, a 4-week gain of 4.35%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 7.22%.
