CSR: NGIC donates 20 lock-shops to Delta community
The NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company Limited (NGIC) has donated a two blocks containing twenty lock-up shops to Ugbokodo Community in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta.
The project was inaugurated and handed over to the host community on Tuesday as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Addressing the people, the Managing Director of NGIC, Mr Seyi Omotowa said that the well-being of the host communities was paramount to the company’s CSR thrust, hence the inauguration and handing over.
Omotowa was represented by the Mr Kazachiyang Nuhu, Executive Director, Business Service of the NGIC.
Omotowa said that NGIC was a socially responsible organisation that viewed host communities as partners with the desired to key into her numerous business opportunities.
The managing director said that the
NGIC had the mandate to transport natural gas for domestic consumption and regional export and with a vision to support the economic growth of the country.
He added that it’s gas pipelines infrastructure network transversed over 2,500 km across over 350 host communities in 11 states in the country.
“As a responsible and responsive company, we remain committed to developing a robust and sustainable relationship with our host communities.
“Therefore, we present to you this Two Blocks of twenty lock-up shops as a token of our contribution to the development of this community which we cherish dearly.
“We shall continue to solicit for your cooperation in the maintenance of peace in order to support our business growth and aspirations for the benefit of this community and Nigerians in general,” he said.
Omotowa said that NGIC would continue to encourage and appreciate communities that promote peace, dialogue and understanding in the resolution of issues.
He also urged the aggrieved communities to always contact the NGIC Management directly through it’s Corporate Communication Department rather than third party.
While commending the Delta government in maintaining peace the state, Omotowa urged the community to safeguard the facility by putting in place adequate security measures.
Responding, Mr Christopher Ofoye, the Chairman of Ugbokodo Community thanked the NGIC for the project, noting that the company had been doing very well for the community.
He appealed that NGIC should endeavor to among others complete the remaining market projects based on the already submitted architectural drawings by the community..
Ofoye assured that the market would be put into judicious use while continually maintaining the existing cordial relationship with the company.
Also speaking, Mr Etioyibo Lucky, the National Conference Chairman of Ugbokodo Community thanked the NGIC and urged other companies operating in the community to emulate the NGIC.
In his remark, the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, Maj.-Gen. Felix Mujakperuo (Rtd) thanked the company for the project.
The royal father who was represented by Chief Clifford Ikpikpini said, “after nine months, a baby is expected to be delivered, NGIC has delivered this to our community”.
Highlights of the ceremony were, entertainment dance by Ugbokodo traditional dance troop and cutting of the tape.
