Gov Eno affirms commitment to good governance …commissions 10.51km Mkpat Enin, Ikot Abasi Road Project
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has urged the people of the State to remain steadfast with his administration, reaffirming his commitment to continuity in good governance for the State’s development.
Governor Eno gave this assurance on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, during the inauguration of the 10.519km Mkpat Enin-Ikot Ubo-Ikot Ntot-Nkikara Road in Mkpat Enin/Ikot Abasi Local Government Area.
The State Chief Executive expressed gratitude to the people of Mkpat Enin for the honor and warm reception accorded him, assuring them of further developmental interventions, particularly in rural areas, to fulfill the Rural Development priority within his administration’s Arise Agenda.
He noted that the 10.519km road project was initiated by his predecessor, Governor Udom Emmanuel, and thanked the people of the area for their support, which enabled the project’s completion.
“We must continue to develop our rural communities, not only in Mkpat Enin but throughout the State. We are grateful to God for giving us the grace to complete the projects initiated by the previous administration. This is why continuity is essential. Without your support for continuity, projects like this wouldn’t be completed now.
“When you check the commissioning stone, it clearly states that this project was initiated during Deacon Udom Emmanuel’s administration but completed and commissioned in Governor Umo Bassey Eno’s administration.”
Earlier, the Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Council, Hon. Emmanuel Inyang, thanked the Governor for the numerous value-added projects he has implemented, many of which are located in the area.
He expressed appreciation for the construction of a strategic road network, which he noted has improved the economy and quality of life for the people.
The Council Chairman highlighted that the Mkpat Enin-Ikot Ubo-Ikot Nkikara road project represents not only progress but also a testament to remarkable leadership and visionary development for the State, acknowledging the administration’s commitment to quality infrastructure as exemplified by this road project.
On his part, the member representing Mkpat Enin State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Uwem Imoh-Ita, expressed gratitude to the Governor for fulfilling his campaign promises. He commended the Governor’s dedication to completing projects from past administrations and assured him of continuous support from the constituency.
Speaking on behalf of the women, the Women Leader, Mrs. Idara Akpan, thanked Governor Eno for his vision, pragmatic leadership, and unwavering commitment to rural development.
She noted that the road project provides a significant boost to economic activities in the area, connecting people to various strategic economic centers where they market their farm produce, and reaffirmed their commitment and unalloyed loyalty to the Governor throughout his tenure.
Similarly, the Paramount Ruler of Mkpat Enin LGA, HRM Edidem (Elder) Akpan Ekpene, appreciated the Governor, describing the gesture as evidence of his God-fearing leadership, and assured him of continuous support and prayers.
Speaking on behalf of the youth, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Mobilization, Comrade Iniobong Akpan, who is also a native of Mkpat Enin, stated that the youth of the area and across the State are pleased with the Governor’s leadership approach and reaffirmed their continuous support.
