Gov Otu calls for end to bloodshed, destructions, squabbles in Cross River

The Cross River State governor, Senator Bassey Otu has declared that the state now has zero tolerance for bloodsheds, wanton destruction of property and all traces of internal squabbles.
The governor discloser this in his temporary office in Calabar during a Stakeholders meeting with Ukelle Leaders and Chiefs.
Governor Otu noted that intra-communal wars are even more worrisome as they are more destructive and totally condemnable in all ramifications.
He used the opportunity to admonish all those on the delegation to ensure that peace and tranquility reign throughout their ancestral abodes.
The governor also drew the attention of Ukelle Stakeholders to the fact that the area occupies a strategic place in northern Cross River and the State political landscape.
He added that it behooves on the people of the area to ensure that all primordial sentiments, bad blood and recriminations are done away with.
He pledged to complete the North-Ukelle Road assured the delegation that with the people’s continuous support and solidarity, his administration will take Cross River State to the heights of our collective dreams.
Earlier, a Stakeholder and community leader, Chief (Mrs) Martina Odom, told His Excellency of her community’s deep appreciation for the commencement of the Ukelle Road project.
She pledged the undiluted loyalty and support of the Ukelle Nation to Governor Otu during what she referred to as his 8 year tenure in office.
Dr. Julius Okputu, on his part said the Ukelle Nation are ready to embrace peace and to allow development to thrive.
Member representing Yala 2 State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Martins Achadu , praised the Governor’s open handedness, noting that light has begun to shine in the Ukelle Nation.
Commissioner for International Donor Coordination, Elder Dr. Hippolatus Lukpata, noted with pleasure that the delegation is indeed, a true reflection and representation of the Ukelle Stakeholders and people as no community was left out on the delegation.
He described Governor Bassey Otu as a remarkably good and patriotic leader, who is desirous of uplifting the Ukelle Nation and the State in general to greater heights.
Also contributing, Vice Chairman of the Ukelle Traditional Rulers Council, Chief Chigbe Alo, noted that all the decisions taken at the meeting are binding on every son and daughter of Ukelle and that nobody should disturb the peace of the area anymore, saying the Chiefs have spoken and it carries all the attributes and implications of traditional authority.
