NGX: Investors record N6.18bn gain as ASI appreciates by 0.02%
Equities Market closed positive as the key market indicator advanced by 11.35 bps amid positive market breadth.
The NGX All-Share Index advanced by 0.02% to close at 54,507.66 basis points as against a 0.24% gain recorded previously to close at 54,496.31 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N6.18bn gain.
At the end of today’s trading session on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX), a total of 134,459,667 shares in 2,905 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 4,355,393,890.22, were traded.
Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Tuesday, February 14), today’s data shows 24% decline in volume, 23% decline in turnover, and 20% decline in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 29.7 trillion.
In the aggregate, 109 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 20 gainers and 16 losers. Tripple Gee & Co. led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at NGN 1.65 per share, followed by Linkage Assurance (+7.14%), Consolidated Hallmark Insurance (+4.62%) and Ikeja Hotel (+4%).
On the losing side, Sovereign Trust Insurance came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 6.67% at NGN 0.28 per share, followed by Japaul Gold and Ventures (-6.67%), National Salt Company (-3.57%) and Chams (-3.45%). Guaranty Trust Holding recorded the highest volume of 42.3 million traded shares, followed by United Bank for Africa (13.1m), Aiico Insurance (6.66m) and FBN Holdings (6.35m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) inched up 11.35 (0.02%) points to close at 54,507.66, representing a 1-week gain of 0.15%, a 4-week gain of 3.6%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 6.35%.
Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Top 30 Index (+0.02%; +0.12% 1WK; +6.3% YTD), NGX Top 50 Index (-0.04%; -0.32% 1WK; +4.68% YTD), NGX Insurance Index (+0.86%; -1.81% 1WK; +1.54% YTD), NGX Premium Index (+0.1%; +0.47% 1WK; +9.29% YTD), NGX Industrial Index (+0.07%; +0.23% 1WK; +3.06% YTD), and NGX Pension Index (-0.01%; -0.21% 1WK; +7.25% YTD).
